Fixing Recommendations

We recommend the using a fixing adhesive to the underside of the Dino Grip Carborundum Filled Insert Strip

Anti Slip

Our Carborundum Filled Insert Strips are manufactured from combining coloured aggregates with aluminium oxide in cured epoxy and therefore creates a tough and durable anti-slip product.

Do It Yourself Installation

Dino Grip Carborundum Filled Insert Strips are designed for do it yourself installations and are easily installed using a fixing adhesive.

Aesthetics

These Carborundum Filled Insert Strips are able to compliment existing rebated external steps or decking areas by making a feature of the strips against the existing surface as well as providing a safe anti-slip surface.

PREPARATION

Dino Grip Carborundum Filled Insert Strips can be installed onto timber, stone, concrete and other solid surfaces.

Onto Wooden Surfaces:

We recommend that the surface is swept first and then cleaned with a suitable decking wash or detergent to remove mildew and algae (on external surfaces).  Suitable cleaners are readily available such as our Dino Grip Decking Wash.

It is highly recommended that all rotten decking / timbers are removed and replaced prior to the installation of Dino Grip Carborundum Filled Insert Strips.  The insert strips are only designed to be installed onto sound existing surfaces and are not designed to be installed onto decking which is questionable or rotten.

Onto Concrete or Solid Surfaces:

We recommend that the surface is swept first and then cleaned with a suitable decking wash or detergent to remove mildew and algae (on external surfaces).  Suitable cleaners are readily available such as our Dino Grip Decking Wash.

Dino Grip recommends that the surface is sound and level.  It is essential to remedy any defects with an appropriate repair medium and allow to fully cure prior to the installation of the insert strips.

SAFETY

When installing Dino Grip Carborundum Filled Insert Strips we would recommend that PPE (personal protective equipment) is worn.

CUTTING

If you need to cut the inserts strips to size during your installation, these can but cut using an industrial grinder.

We would recommend that a suitable dust mask with protective safety goggles and gloves are worn.  The insert strips should be cut externally or in well ventilated areas.

Dust residue can be disposed of using normal waste disposal methods. No special permissions or licenses are required.

INSTALLATION

Dino Grip Carborundum Filled Insert Strips are easily installed to existing rebated surface by fixing to the surface using a chemical adhesive.

For in-situ installations, create a rebate in the surface to match the dimensions of the insert strip to be fixed, plus approximately 1mm addition to the depth and the width to accommodate the fixing adhesive.

For new concrete, create a blank in the mould to match the dimensions of the insert strip to be fixed, plus approximately 1mm addition to the depth and width to accommodate the fixing adhesive.

Apply the fixing adhesive into the bottom of the rebate and place the insert strip and apply sufficient pressure to ensure an even spread of the adhesive, yet avoiding any oozing onto the surface or the insert strip.

Apply weights until the adhesive has fully cured.

It is important that any adhesive used is compatible with the item being fixed, the substrate type and the particular installation environment.

Where adhesive only fixing is the preference, choose only a product which offers high mechanical strength.

In all instances, seek and follow the adhesive manufacturer’s recommendations for use.

CLEANING GUIDE AND TIPS

We recommend that the surfaces where the insert strips have been installed are regularly cleaned.  This allows all surface debris to be removed and reduces the build-up of mildew and algae.

The best way to keep the surface clean is by using a mould and mildew cleaner which can be applied using a stiff broom and removed with clean water.

GENERAL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

The carborundum filled insert strips should be checked on a regular basis to check the adhesive fixing. Circumstances will vary, based upon the volume of foot traffic etc, however as a guide, monthly inspections would be advisable in high trafficked areas.

Dino Grip Carborundum Filled Insert Strips are a premium high quality product for creating a safe and anti slip finish to rebated steps and decking. Manufactured by combining coloured aggregates with aluminium oxide in cured epoxy to create a tough, durable anti-slip product.
